After an amazingly relaxing stay at the Warwick Doha Hotel we headed early to the airport to make sure we got through security and everything on time to board our flight at 7.30PM Qatar time. We had been in Hamad International Airport before so we knew how huge and confusing it could be, so left ourselves lots of extra time there. What does this translate to as a parent though?! Lots of time to amuse your kiddo. We found plenty of things to do in Hamad International Airport with kids.
Of course we ended up in the airport at dinner time. It can be a little confusing at first to find food here but if you are keen enough to walk around with lots of bags then you will find somewhere. We almost ended up sharing a small pizza but on the way to the restaurant we saw the sign for the food court, yay! This meant we would have many more choices but also meant David could get the Burger he was craving.
There were a good few options in here, including baguettes, croissants, noodles and a Burger King. Since David was craving a burger we ended up eating at Burger King. The view from the food court was cool too, we could see the big planes parked and lots of activity going on below.
If you are in the mood for shopping then you will be in your glory here. There are many designed stores but Duty Free is all over the place too. Kids love chocolate so grab some if you need to keep them amused. At Hamad Internation Airport with kids shopping may become a drag if you were to visit all of the hundreds of stores around.
There is so much fun play areas at Hamad International. They are mostly formed out of tin and look like little cute dolls and people that you can climb and explore. You can also connect to the free wifi and let them enjoy some games, watch movies or anything else you can normally do online. (Hint: you can conenct to the Airport Hotel wifi if you are close enough to it.)
There are a lot of symbolic places in Hamad International. One of our favourite things to do at Hamad International Airport with kids was to take pictures at some of these places. These make great memories and pictures of everyone back home.
There are plenty of things you can do in Hamad International Airport with kids, just look around a little and ideas will be all around you. Also as a bonus, if you are on a transfer, or travel without a stroller there are lots of strollers in the airport you can take and use during your visit!
