WHAT IT IS?
The photography dome is an exceptional piece of photography equipment. One we are super stoked were brought especially with Travis being in the process of learning to swim. The dome is a circular device that allows you to fit a GoPro and film under water shots or the famous half above and half under water shot. These really are incredible. We got our dome from a company called Split Gadgets who we would highly recommend.
HOW TO USE IT?
Now the photography dome is really simple to use. Firstly place the GoPro inside a waterproof case. From there you can loosen the two screw on GoPro housing on the dome then place the GoPro in the slot provided. It can only go in one way so its not difficult. Once the GoPro is fitted close over the hatch the housing hatch and tighten back up the screw so everything is tight and wont come apart. You are now ready to film or take photos in the water.
You can still press the buttons you normally use on the camera so you just use it as normal. To take half underwater and half above water pictures you simple hold the dome at the level you want. This is great for capturing precious moments with your friends and family or great for capturing sea life.
The dome really isn’t that big at all. It is approx 20 centimetres square across the diameter of the dome. With the dome being quite small it makes it easy to transport about when packed away. The handle detaches from the actual dome and they can be housed inside a small velvet pouch to keep them compact. We have one 60L backpack between three of us on this trip and we managed to fit it in with everything else.
WHAT WE GOT
When we got our dome from Split Gadgets we got a great bundle. We got the dome itself but also got a few items with it. We got a cool fabric case to keep the screen of the dome from getting scratched or damaged and then a bag to keep the dome in. We also got a handle we could attach to the dome. This was also a floating device which would help the dome float if dropped or let go in the water.
*We were kindly given this underwater photography dome by Split Gadgets in exchange for an open and honest review. All opinions are our own
