Our first three months of family travel – Travel plans Asia
We recently did a 5 month countdown to our big nine month trip to Asia. You can learn more about backpacking Asia from The Blonde Abroad. We briefly talked about our travel plans in there but we wanted to go into more detail because I know some people are dying to know where we are going and our families want to be able to keep track of us! We have nailed almost the first three months of plans and here they are. This is our travel plans Asia (first three months only.)
We leave from Edinburgh, it is the closest airport to us. We know Qatar Airways fly from there because we have used them before and love our journey with them.
September 24th – Edinburgh -> Doha, Qatar
We will fly from Edinburgh at 4:15 and land in Doha, Qatar on September 25th around 1/2am. We will then get transported to our hotel (Warwick Hotel Doha) who have arranged us a taxi from the airport too. We needed to look carefully for a hotel here because some hotels do not let unmarried couples share one room. We are lucky enough that this beautiful hotel does allow it.
September 24th – 25th
We will spend the first day off the trip in Doha, Qatar. We have been invited to use the Doha hop on-hop off bus so we will use that to go sightseeing as it stops at the main sights of the city. We have also been invited to Banana Island Resort to use their pool and private beach so we will go there after lunch to relax before our next flight.
September 25th – Doha -> Bangkok
We then fly around 8pm with Qatar Airways again from Doha to Bangkok.
September 26th – 29th
We have been invited to stay at the Amari Watergate Hotel in Bangkok. We will spend three nights there in an Executive Room with access to the best hotel has to offer. We plan to relax here and also do some sightseeing around Bangkok, hopefully including a buffet boat ride on the Chao Phraya River.
September 29th we will travel from Bangkok -> Kanchanaburi
September 29th – October 5th
We will stay in Kanchanaburi and visit the Death Railway, Museums and much more. We will likely take a day try to Erawan waterfall from here.
October 5th Kanchanaburi – Bangkok
October 5th – 7th
Stay in Bangkok two more nights.
October 7th Bangkok -> Chiang Mai by sleeper train
Stay two nights in Chiang Mai Old Town at the De Lanna Hotel. Explore the Old City and find an apartment to rent for a month.
October 11th – October 12th
Stay two nights at the Anantara Serviced Suites.
October 12th – November 12th (ish)
Live in our rented apartment in Nimman. We will explore a lot of Chiang Mai from here and probably visit Pai. Our apartment will be a 1 bedroom condo with a pool (and probably a gym) so it will be a nice place to relax and work on the website. Find out how we will find a rental here. Hopefully we will visit the Elephant Sanctuary, see a football game, take a Muay Thai class or two and visit the amazing temples nearby.
November 12th – November 15th
Find a nice hotel or guesthouse to rent in another part of Chiang Mai.
November 15th Chiang Mai -> Hong Kong with Air Asia
November 15th – November 22nd
Spent time in Hong Kong. Try to take a day trip to Shenzhen in China and Macau. Hopefully go to Disneyland.
November 22nd Hong Kong -> Manila, Phillipines
November 22nd – November 24th.
Spend two days in Manila.
November 24th Manila -> Kalibo
Stay at the Zapa Inn in Kalibo.
November 24th Kalibo -> Boracay
November 25th – 27th
Stay with the Ferra Hotel Boracay.
November 27th – 29th
Two more days on Boracay.
November 29th – December 20th
Float around the Philippines and end up in Cebu
December 13th -> Cebu
December 13th – 17th
Fly to BALI!!!!!
These plans are very loose and we are kind of going with the flow. The days are probably off here and there but you get a general idea of where we will go. Now, family, you can keep track of us. We will update this post as we confirm more details or if anything changes!
