Walkerburn is the town where both of us were born into. Although we have lived in a few different places, we always return to Walkerburn. Find out why we love Walkerburn so much and why you should visit Walkerburn.
Where is Walkerburn?
Walkerburn is a small town in the Scottish Borders. It lies about 8 miles from Peebles and around 10 miles from Galashiels. Although getting there is a simple road it can be tough to get there because only one bus service runs to Walkerburn, so unless you drive you will be waiting on public transport. You can get the bus from Edinburgh or Galashiels (and everywhere in between too.) Sadly the price is way too high for what it is, so drive if you want to visit Walkerburn, if you can.
What is there to do?
Granted, Walkerburn is a very small town. So you are wondering what you could do if you decide to visit Walkerburn? Well there are lots of hikes, nature trails and outdoor activities. You can fish here, play football or rugby… skim stones in the river or wander around and pick some of the free fruit hanging around town.
You can enjoy time playing at the play park.
What can I eat?
Besides the Premier store there is not many options for shopping. You can happily buy second hand furniture but food would need to be bought in one of the nearby towns. In regards to food that is served to you there are two main options, the Caberston Cafe and The George Hotel. We have eaten at both and really enjoyed both places. The Caberston is great for a lunch and The George is good for a larger meal.
Why should I visit?
Walkerburn is a beautiful and historical town with so much on offer. Read all about the history of the town on the plaques outside of the HB Club. Find out when the bridge was built by reading the information moulded into the frame. The kids are safe to run around and play with their friends, everyone knows everyone and looks out for one another, Walkerburn is glorious in the snow… There are so many reasons you should consider a time to visit Walkerburn.
